The type 54 clutch brake hexagonal housing is usually used in belt or chain driven applications where the rotary motion is derived from a remote location or from a co-axially coupled motor.
They are used when the application is required to run continuously and the unit which it is driving it has to have a controlled stop and start action.
The centre line height of clutch brake hexagonal housing units, fitted with feet, corresponds with standard IEC motor frame sizing.
