Safety brakes (also known as closed-circuit brakes or fail-safe brakes) are used in the event of a power failure; a load must be held securely or immediately brought to a standstill in case of an emergency stop. This can be done by the use of a permanent magnet or spring-applied brakes.

Permanent magnet brakes

Key requirements are high torque, high temperature range (+/- oc) and a large bore. The spring-applied brakes are designed as holding brakes with emergency stop function for the integrated installation into servo motors.
